Songs I am glad I heard in 2011

One song for each month, in no particular order, straight from my heart (kidding, straight from YouTube)
Haven't listen to them? Then follow my advice: please do. Here they go:

The guy-next-door.

The owners of the house next door have always put it on rent, giving us the ~joy~ of new neighbours more often than necessary. Some are sweet as rosogulla [like the retired Bengali couple, whose Aunty made me promise that I'd invite her to my wedding. Sure, if she could promise to be alive till then...], and some are not so social [This one time some bachelors decided to keep all the cricket balls that flew into their balcony. Oh boy, the ruckus that caused!].

Yet, we had never seen the phenomenon of sub-tenancy before. Our current neighbours have sub-let a 6x5 ft room to a guy in his mid-twenties.
And This man is my neighbour-in-focus.

Sari, finally!

I'm just so excited that I finally draped a sari. Even though most of the people I wanted to see weren't there, it doesn't matter, 'coz I had fun :)

Random thought: Night

This isn't a poem.
It's just a string of thoughts barely connected to each other.
 ****

I like the night.
It seems so full of potential, of possibilities to explore which are too shy, or too drastic to be undertaken during the day.

What makes you happy?

07-06-2011

The year isn't going particularly good. One after the other, negative vibes and turn of events hit me in the face. Today is special. In a negative sense, again. It's the worst day of the year. If you really want to, then ask me about it personally, someday. Just mention the date, and I'll remember. And if I am in a storytelling mood, you may get lucky, and find yourself a good tale. But as of now, I'm feeling blue. So what to do?
Here's my personal list of Things That Cheer Me Up: Tried and tested :)

Change? haha! To hell with that :D

|| This post takes up from where my previous post left. Change is good : Point three. ||

So I am done with the experiment. Okay, i admit: it failed miserably.

  ^ Haha :)

Change is good.

I spent the whole of yesterday making changes in the blog. And, the best part is, I am contented. The satisfaction and saturation (oh, oh, alliteration!) was overwhelming.

Among other things, I have decided to get down to studying. After a year long abstinence from books, reflected well in my grades, unfortunately. Its time for some hard work- one year, from March to March.

Where do I come from

This was the topic for an English class, and I wrote a surprisingly good piece, so here it is-

Random thought: birthdays

Ever since one month was left for my birthday (since January 5 to be precise), I've been thinking about birthdays. A lot.
Personally, I'm a little obsessed with birthdays. Not the parties, certainly not the gifts, not even the feeling of being one year older, but the general victorious feeling of "It’s MY day! "

Exulted !

Wow, blogger allows me to install a birthday countdown. Cool !
Anyways, this post will be updated ASAP, and all this text will be replaced with the crappy stuff which is really supposed to be here. Just when I get the time. Right now, I'm just happy the countdown has started. yippie. :D

10 things 2010 taught me

At the cusp of the New Year, most of us take a little time out to ponder over the past and the future. The following was the outcome of my reflections, what I realized I learnt from the past year.

This Site I'm hooked on to.

Marc And Angel Hack Life is one of the many wonderful websites that StumbleUpon introduced me to, and, I'm hooked.
Not just self-help, and certainly not just hacking,  it covers topics so varied and diverse such as this, this and even this, and many many more.
Some days, when I intend to just Stumble, and not go directly to this site, it appears as a stumble link, and then, my whole day is wasted, no no!, spent, on this site. It's some great work.
It's addictive, and inspiring, makes you think, laugh, smile, nod in agreement, or gasp in surprise.
It is, in two words, a Must Visit.

A Poem On Poems

 Words, mere words
It seems to the uninitiated-
Un-rhyming, meaningless, useless.
Neither a haiku, nor a song,
A piece of the poet's thought-
Muddled.
Endless- like a strand of noodle
Baseless- like the scrawl of a two-year-old
Like the script of the Indus Valley Civilization-
Undecipherable.

But to the poet
It may be
A priceless piece of paper.
Scribbled in pencil,
Crossed out, erased.
Horizontal, then sliding, then wherever space permits-
Untidiness personified.

He pours in his heart, his soul.
It may be his mind, his all.

Who's That Girl?

Who's That Girl?
Know someone who completes work, minutes After the deadline, ALWAYS? If not, let me introduce myself. :) If you are what you eat, then I'd be an Ivy Gourd. Or, maybe a Capsicum... But never, ever an onion. Who wants to be an onion anyway? I don't want to make others cry :\ I love deep verses, witty quotes, new words, quirky info, and accidental alliterations (noticed one here?). Sometimes I talk in pairs, for e.g: rhyme and rhythm, songs and dance -all these complete me. I’m thirsty for knowledge, and highly forgetful (pair again). 5 hours ago, writing about me was daunting, but now I can’t stop. Whenever I remember that till now, I have no goal in life, I get scared but still can't care less. Yes, I am a bundle of contradictions with an opinionated mind. But 17 year olds can be awarded this much leniency, right?
